What are the common symptoms of a reaction to dust mite allergen?
Asthma, Blocked up nose, Bronchitis, Conjunctivitis, Coughing at night, Excessive sneezing, Eczema, Itchy skin, Itchy red eyes, Fatigue when you wake up, Hay fever, Headaches, Sinus pain, Snoring, Rhinitis, Watery eyes and Wheezing.

What are dust mites?
They are Acarids (closely related to ticks and spiders), but do not bite or sting.  They are not viruses or bacteria.  They live for approximately 2 months and the females can lay 200 to 400 eggs in that time.

How does a reaction occur?
It is their secretions and excrements that can trigger allergic reactions.  The mites themselves do not cause the reaction.

Where are they found?
In high traffic areas, e.g., mattresses, bed linen, carpets, upholstery, pillows and cushions.  They are attracted to these areas for food, thriving on human skin flakes, dust, fungal spores, pollen grains, plant fibres and insect scales.

Does UVC really kill dust mites?
Dr Glen Needham Ph.D. concluded that even small doses of UVC have a fairly significant effect on dust mite reproduction.  We have found that 5 seconds resulted in nearly 100% mortality.  That is why our equipment is designed to bombard every spot on the mattress with sufficient high output UVC for the required time to kill the dust mites.

How often should the bed be treated?
This very much depends on the severity of the allergy, if bad then every 6 months is recommended.  Less severe sufferers can wait longer but it is advisable not to leave it longer than 12 months.

Does the mattress require removing from the frame?
Apart from when we turn it over to treat the other side it can remain in the frame.

Can any type of mattress be cleaned?
Pretty much any type even so called non allergenic mattresses have been tested and found to contain allergens.  Even people with water beds own pillows and duvets!
